Changelog

This version introduces a new Day Highlights view, makes the Winter voice the default on iOS for all users, and provides a number of other bug fixes and user experience improvements.

  • Day Highlights view

    • This view replaces the Run Timeline view as the primary view for each ski day. It aims to better summarize the most important, high-level information about the ski day, while the Run Timeline provides an ordered list of every run and skiing segment. The Run Timeline view can still be accessed by clicking on the β€œRun Timeline” button on the map in the Day Highlights view.

    • Elements of the Day Highlights view

      • Map of all runs from the day

      • Key stats (time, turns, vert, distance) with ability click to see more

      • Top Ski:IQ values for each technique with ability to click to see details

      • Notes (notes from the first session; notes from subsequent sessions in the day are shown in the Run Timeline)

      • Skis/boots used (set from the first session; ski/boots from subsequent sessions in the day are shown in the Run Timeline)

      • Any badges that were achieved on that day for the season, including Ski:IQ badges or badges for days, turns, vert, or distance

      • Each of the skills that was a focus during the day, including the highest level that was achieved in the day

      • Friend Leaderboard for any friends that skied at the same resort during the day

  • Winter voice (iOS)

    • Winter is a new voice provided as part of the Carv app rather than from the iOS operating system. It is significantly higher quality and is now the default voice.

    • It is possible to change to a different voice by clicking on the gear on the Ski tab (next to the Audio Mode selector).

  • Bug fixes and user experience improvements

    • Leaderboards: issue resulting in slow leaderboard updates was addressed and performance optimizations were implemented

    • Search (friends, leaderboards, resorts): the search algorithm and experience was improved for each of these use cases

    • Tips in Ski tab Coaching drawer: a bug was fixed where tips were not appearing in the coaching drawer if No Audio or Track mode was selected

    • Tip Repetition: a bug was fixed that resulted in repetition of some tips within the ski day

This version includes several bug fixes.

February 28th, 2026

Changelog

In this version of the app, we optimized the Ski tab UI and the Audio Modes to make the experience of improving a skill throughout the day more engaging and easy to follow.

  • The selection of the Audio Mode at the top of the Ski tab has been updated.

    • A β€œNo Audio” mode has been added along with Track, Learn, and Train modes instead of having a Mute button.

    • The icons and descriptions for each of the Audio Modes have been updated to improve clarity.

    • The selection of the voice for the audio has been moved to sit beside the Audio Mode selector.

  • There is now a single Focus skill in the Coaching drawer, no matter which Audio Mode is selected.

    • This allows for consistency in the coaching, no matter what level of audio feedback is desired throughout the day.

    • The experience aims to help you improve on your Focus skill throughout each day.

Changelog

This release includes Strava integration and various bug fixes.

  • Strava Integration

    • Visit the More tab and tap β€œConnect to Strava” to connect your account.

    • Make sure that β€œAutomatically post to Strava” is turned on, and each of your subsequent sessions will automatically be posted to your Strava activities.

  • Bug fixes

    • Rare ski session bug - A bug has been fixed where sensors were sometimes not properly registered with a ski session, leading to the session disappearing after upload or having β€œ8 turns required for Ski:IQ” on every segment. The good news is that, not only is the issue fixed going forward, but there was no data loss associated with the bug. So, if it impacted one of your past sessions, it will be repaired.

    • (iOS) Ski/boot bug - A bug was fixed on iOS where some ski/boot changes were duplicated in the day timeline.

  • Android: an issue with firmware update has been fixed

  • iOS: an issue with filtering by starred users in leaderboards has been fixed

January 29th, 2026

Changelog

This release includes more powerful progress charts, leaderboard performance optimizations, improvements in the accuracy and presentation of stats (time, turns, vert, distance) across the app, ability to edit notes/skis/boots, a new voice on iOS, and various bug fixes.

  • Progress chart enhancements

    • You can now select the desired technique and desired metric in the progress charts.

    • Note that snow surface and pitch are not included in these progress charts, as they are not performance metrics. We may add progress charts for stats (e.g. days, turns, vert, distance) and terrain (e.g. pitch) in a future phase.

  • Leaderboard loading optimizations

    • Global and resort leaderboards now load faster due to a number of performance optimizations.

    • Please notes that we are still working on optimizing the Friends Leaderboard and on fixing delayed leaderboard updates.

  • Improvements in stats (time, turns, vert, distance) throughout the app

    • Please note that your total number of turns, vert, and distance will likely increase at the day, season, and lifetime levels.

    • An issue was fixed where the day, season, and lifetime stats did not include all turns, vert, and distance from every run but were limited to those from presented segments with at least 6 turns or a minimum distance. This means that shorter segments that aren’t presented in the app were not being included in the totals.

    • Fixing this issue also fixed inconsistency between the live stats in the Ski tab and the stats in the day view after saving the session.

    • Wherever you see metrics in the app, you can now click on them to see more detail and more second level metrics.

    • We made distance a top level metric throughout the app and moved top speed down a level.

    • Times reported throughout the app only reflected downhill skiing time in prior versions. They have been updated to reflect total recording time (minus any accidental recording time after your last skiing segment, such as driving home).

  • Editing notes/skis/boots

    • Any notes or edits that you make to skis and boots in the end of session view can now be edited in the day summary after the fact.

    • You can also retrospectively add notes or change skis/boots for the day, even if you didn’t make any edits in the end of session view.

  • New iOS voice

    • There is a new voice available on iOS called β€œWinter”, and there is a new voice selection menu on iOS as well.

Changelog

This version includes a number of bug fixes and UX improvements:

  • iOS - Issue resulting in crashes/freezes on pressing the pause button or save button after a ski session has been mitigated. We continue to work to eliminate this issue completely.

  • iOS - Segment view now consistently shows the map at the top.

  • iOS - MOST RECENT and DAY BEST in the Activity drawer on the Ski tab now navigates to those segments on click.

  • Android - The season best Ski:IQ for a particular resort in the resort detail view is now labeled β€œSEASON BEST” rather than the erroneous β€œDAY BEST”.

  • Resorts details previously showed how many β€œruns” were completed for each named run, but it was really showing the number of β€œsegments”. This label has been fixed.

  • These are accessible from the charts icon in the top right of the Home tab.

  • They show your top Ski:IQ over time by day, month, or season and allow you to navigate to the corresponding segment.

  • We are working on the ability to select technique (e.g. carving, short turns) and metric (e.g. Ski:IQ, Parallel Skis, Turn Shape).

Notes and Skis / Boots

  • The end of session view now allows you to enter notes and to select the skis / boots that you used in the session.

  • The notes and skis / boots appear in the day summary. Notes also appear with the corresponding ski day on the Home tab.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Please go to More β†’ My Info β†’ Skis and More β†’ My Info β†’ Boots to make sure that your skis and boots are properly set up.
