Routine to detect when there are bluetooth problems in Android phones

I am one of those Android users who experience problems every time they start a session with Carv (undetected runs, e.g. 0% parallel skiing, etc). While sometimes it works the first time, many times it doesn't. The solution is “relatively simple”: reset the sensors several times until they work. However, you need to make a descent after each reset to check that they do indeed work, which is quite annoying (take gloves off, take phone out of pocket, reset, put phone in pocket, put gloves on, make a descent, stop, check that it works, etc). And when you get it working, if you decide to stop and restart another session, you may have the same problem again.

Since the problem in these phones lies in the bluetooth capabilities for the data from both sensors to arrive synchronized and manage all the information, wouldn't it be possible to introduce a routine in the app that simply checks each time we start a sesion that indeed the data are being transmitted well? Similar to a url ping.
