All ski slope surfaces are not perfectly groomed corduroy with zero crowds and infinite sunshine. Where I ski a great deal (the midwest) the order of the day is often overcast with concrete like hardpack and ice. The average edge angles and resulting g forces achievable in a carved turn by a decent skier with reasonably sharp skis on βconcreteβ are FAR less than the idealized conditions shown in the demo videos. Carv has no adjustment factor I am aware of for snow surface hardness (or better yet, lack of softness). That hardness factor may possibly be derived from sensor data or possibly through crowdsourced methods. I created a gemini chat (see attached pdf) that explores some of the physics of this and mentions some possible ways to possibly derive a value.
