Problem
In the current Carv app (v9.4.2-9155), Turn Monitor delivers turn-by-turn metric audio, but it also forces spoken coaching chatter and tips during lift rides and post-run pauses. Track mode avoids chatter but removes turn-by-turn metrics. These modes are mutually exclusive, and there is no way to combine their desirable behaviors.
Desired behavior:
Enable a configuration that allows:
Spoken turn-by-turn metric readouts during skiing (current Turn Monitor behavior) and spoken Ski:IQ summary at the end of each run, but with no spoken coaching tips or chatter during lift rides or when stopped.
This should work without manual mode switching between runs.
Proposed solution (any one would work):
Add a “Metrics Only” audio mode that:
Speaks selected metrics per turn and speaks Ski:IQ at run end, but
suppresses all lift and coaching commentary
OR
Add independent audio toggles:
Turn metrics: On/Off
End-of-run summary (Ski:IQ): On/Off
Lift / coaching chatter: On/Off
OR
Add a simple “Disable lift audio” toggle that applies when Turn Monitor is active.
Why this matters:
Many experienced skiers want quantitative feedback, not instruction.
Lift chatter is disruptive, incredibly annoying, repetitive, and unnecessary once metrics are understood.
The hardware and analytics already support this use case; only audio routing is missing.
Impact:
Improves usability for advanced and data-focused users
Reduces annoyance without removing coaching for users who want it
No change required to data collection or scoring logic
Summary:
Please decouple turn-metric audio from coaching/lift commentary so users can hear metrics while skiing, Ski:IQ at run end, and silence on the lift—hands-free and without mode juggling.
