Racing / Training mode + more data feature

I bought the CARV 2 in order to make progress and analyse my skiing deeper as I’m training for Eurotest / C.T.T

Carv helped me to get more insight on my skiing without my coach, it also help to validate some point with vidéo + timer when racing.

However, I clearly see some missing features which could be beneficial to racers.

  • Compare training runs

During a racing training session, I don't have the possibility to compare my runs between each other's directly. I’d like to have a quick comparison feature, where you could for example select run 1 vs run 3, with a highlight of what stays consistent, what changes etc.

That would improve the quality of my training sessions so bad and make carv much more useful to racers and coach.

  • Compare turns inside a defined training run :

I’d love to be able to track and monitor improvement turn by turn, on a same slalom practice run, links with what was described higher, but more on a turn by turn analysis.

This would extend to a higher number of turn than the 8 turns needed for a ski IQ.

That would help to identify strength and weaknesses on strategic points of a run.

  • Outside vs inside ski pressure

THAT IS THE MAIN MISSING DATA IN CARV. Add the outside/inside ski balance pressure. Would be beneficial for every type of turn, terrain, conditions.

I want to know, for each turn, if I'm 80/20 on my outside/inside ski, or 70/30.

That would be a game changer and great training tool.

  • Get time data for each run, point to point.

You select start point, finish point, and carv calculate the time between two values

  • Highest ski IQ by turn (L/R)

When looking at ski IQ, I'd love to see the highest IQ obtained during a run / during the day.

    Race mode

I am skiing in a race community. What holds the racers back from buying carve, seems to be that the goal of carv is not race technique. I agree. Carv’s goal seems to be that you should ski like a demo-skier/ski instructor. I do however think that carv is a great tool for racers, like slow drills, but it would be nice with a race mode - which could make it so much more relevant. I think it would be quite easy to develop. What is true for ski racing? The skier is skiing in gates, and the goal is to go as fast as possible. Simple timing says how fast you go, but what made you go fast or slow can be hard to see. Here are the features I would like to see:

    • a turn by turn analysis on the most important metrics

      • time between turns

      • g-force

      • time spent turning

      • edge angle

      • classifying turns as carv, pivot, or skidd

      • Turn shape and time of applied pressure, as well as where the pressure is applied

      • It would be great if one could do a playback showing angel and accelaration etc between turns.

    • Comparison between runs

      • I guess carv could detect reoccuring segments?

      • higlight differences?

      • time spent in segment (i.e. crude timing)

      • Possibility to record equipment and setup on a run

      • Where is time won and lost comparred to another run?

      • Change in edge angle between runs

      • etc

    • team mode

      • Comparison between different athletes

I do not think raceIq is important, but I guess that could be fun. Turn closure would probably not be relevant (or at least different). Turn consistency should be skipped, as that is up to where the gates are set….there are probably other metrics that are not relevant.

Thanks so much for such a detailed breakdown!

As a racer myself I really back up this idea
