Debugging Carv GPS

Carv map context:

Carv uses GPS to track and record your ski runs by receiving signals from satellites via your phone’s GPS chip. A strong, stable GPS connection is essential for accurate tracking and performance feedback.

What Happens When GPS Fails

A weak or disrupted GPS connection can cause:

  • Incomplete runs or no run detection at all.

  • Inaccurate tracking data, such as:

    • Straight-line segments when the signal drops and reconnects.

    • Zigzag distance calculations due to jumpy signals.

    • GPS drift, where the path follows the pistes loosely but lacks precision.

Fortunately, there are proven steps to improve your GPS accuracy and avoid these issues:

  1. Swipe left with two fingers or go to More > Suggest an Improvement

  2. Select Report an Issue

  3. Describe your problem and tap Submit
