What is Carv?

Get to know the four key elements of Carv: Hardware, Software, Data, and Coaching...

How it works

  1. Clip Carv to each boot

Clip the sensors onto each ski boot strap in seconds. They send data to your phone via bluetooth as you ski.

  2. Magical AI Analysis

Just go skiing and let the magic happen. Carv turns your boot movement into simple, clear coaching tips.

  3. Coaching while you ski

Get the level of coaching you want, when you want, with real-time audio feedback.

The Hardware

There are two Carv Sensors - one left and one right - that clip onto any Ski boot. The Carv Sensors contain:

  • A gyroscope and an accelerometer that allow us to use sensor fusion to capture the movement of your boots and measure your skiing

  • A rechargeable battery powered by USB-C

  • A Bluetooth module that transmits the skiing data to your phone

Designed for durability, the Carv Sensors are water-resistant and snow-proof, with a 5-day battery life, so they’re built to withstand even the most demanding ski adventures.

The Software

Start by downloading the Carv app from your App or Google Play store. Upon making a Carv account, you may be prompted to enter your Carv Pass Code, which you’ll receive via email after purchase. You’ll only be able to add this once you’ve paired your sensors for the first time.

If you ordered through pre-sale, your Pass Code will be emailed to you once your sensors have been dispatched.

Once received, click “Setup” and you'll receive a step-by-step guide to getting started with Carv. Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to hit the slopes!

Just hit “Start” to begin recording your runs. You’ll get Ski:IQ™ scores and tips as you ski. You can change your feedback modes at any time! See Your Data for more information.

For more information see Device Compatibility and Connectivity .

The Data

Ski:IQ™ is a measure used to assess your skiing ability. Carv calculates Ski:IQ™ using machine learned weightings of ten performance metrics. This allows Carv to adjust which metrics to prioritise in your score — based on your skiing, the pitch and the terrain.

Different runs, and different skiers, may have different metric weightings used to calculate your Ski:IQ™. This ensures that our coaching is relevant to your level, and the terrain you’re skiing.

For more information see Ski:IQ .

The Coaching

Built alongside world-class instructors, Carv provides real-time audio coaching and personalised tips as you ski. Carv recognises the terrain you're on and adapts your Ski:IQ™ and coaching to suit the conditions.

Carv coaching comes in the form of instructive content in the app - with both visual and written explanations, and real-time coaching with tips.

You can personalise your Audio Coaching experience based on what feedback you’d like to receive by switching between our available modes: Track, Learn and Train. See Your Data for more information.

Skiing with friends or family? You can turn off audio feedback altogether and check out your data on the lift, at the end of the day, or whenever suits you.
